The Only Way…

I was going to write something else today, but then I saw this on FaceBook.  There isnt anything really wrong with the blog.  The writer makes some good points and Im sure some good ideas can be gleaned.

BUT, why the F$#K do we need 50 ways to get better.  Most of us have a hard time focusing on ONE.  And really that is my point.  Dont get lost in the sauce.  Dont get lost in the newest training concept, or lifting scheme, or what the Russians did 50 years ago.  Instead focus one single thing: commitment.  Commit to be better.  Commit to go harder.  Commit to show up.  Commit to the idea that to get better you have to fail.  Commit to the ideal that you are here to succeed, at all costs.  Commit to going to bed early.  Commit to eating less…or more if that is what you need.  Commit to the pain.   Commit to the plan.  Commit to the suffering.

I know I just named off a bunch of things when earlier I told you to focus on one thing.  But really, IF YOU HAVE COMMITMENT then all of those things will fall in line.  There is no shortcut.  There is no easy solution.  Grinding away day after day is the only thing that will get you to your destination.  Too many people today WANT to be better, faster, stronger, sexier, but few will do the work.  The work is just that: work.  Much is not fun.  Much of it is hard.  It takes time.  Focused effort + time = results.  That is as simple as I can break it down.  You can work on the 50 other things, wandering aimlessly, searching for the next 50 ways to get better, OR you can take the long view, put in the time and make each minute of training and preparation count.  I can promise you that if you do the latter, you will succeed.

I like how #1 is to gear up and buy shoes and workout clothes. Pretty sure buying a pair of nanos doesn’t make you better at Crossfit.

I guess I won’t post my 100 ways to be an old broken guy doing crossfit post… LOL

I agree with Ben! It only takes one thing regardless of what it is in life you want to be better at… NEW SHOES!! oops I mean COMMITMENT
