3 WODs are in the books, leaving us with 2 more unknown tests of fitness. During the course of the past 3 weeks I have seen a lot of special moments. People stringing together their first double unders, first CTB pullups, and new PRs on deadlifts just to name a few. There have also been some people who have felt disappointed about their performances and expected they were capable of more. For most of us, our personal involvement in the CrossFit Games season will end with the Open, so I would like to offer you a few ideas for consideration.
- There are 2 WODs remaining and then it’s all over until next year. If you are flying high and have exceeded your expectations thus far, continue to enjoy the ride and finish strong over the next 2 weeks. If you are in the other category and are feeling disappointed, you MUST let go of the past and focus on destroying whatever lies ahead. Do not hold back; don’t find yourself second guessing if you could have done more; give all you have and success will be yours.
- Use what you have learned about yourself as an athlete. If you discovered some new weaknesses, or known weaknesses were highlighted by the Open, create a plan of action to improve. There is nothing as satisfying as seeing something you once feared turn into something you can dominate.
- Enjoy the moment and be happy you are able to partake in the Open. There are countless people in the world that will never get this opportunity. For me, there is nothing like hearing the clock start and losing myself in a WOD, when for a brief moment reality is washed away and nothing else matters. I hope this has been a rewarding endeavor for you all, and know that I, for one, am proud of each and every one of you. Finish well and stay motivated!
