July Coach Spotlight: Keelieanna

Name: Kellie Knapp

Position: Coach (Wednesday 6:00pm class)

When did you start doing CrossFit? My first CrossFit class was actually an introductory park WOD in conjunction with Lululemon, mid-May 2013. I ended up getting sick, had to stop in the middle of the workout, and then proceeded to throw up once I left. Joe convinced me to try it again in June 2013 and I immediately fell in love with it and have not stopped since.

What made you decide to start coaching? I have always been drawn to helping others and I felt coaching would give me a platform to teach people how to live healthier, more active lives. I really just wanted to impact others in a positive way in conjunction with my absolute favorite hobby.

What do you like most about coaching? I thoroughly enjoy getting to know members and learning about their personal lives. Developing relationships is something I really value. I also love helping members learn new movements or help them achieve difficult gymnastic skills. The look on their face when they finally get it is always priceless!

What is your favorite thing to coach? I like coaching gymnastics movements. They are my favorite to do and I think it’s always a challenge to learn new ways to teach different gymnastics skills and give different cues.

What is your least favorite thing to coach? Snatches…

What is your favorite lift? My favorite lift is definitely the power clean.

What is something most people do not know about you? I am slightly obsessed with personal finance, financial literacy, and my budget spreadsheet (I literally look at it every day). I also grew up doing rodeo (barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, and flag racing) and my younger brother is a professional bullrider.

What is your favorite thing about the CrossFit community and CFABQ community? My favorite thing about the CrossFit community is how everyone is incredibly supportive and willing to help in any way they can when someone is in need or going through a tough time in their life. Also the way crossfitters come together across boxes to raise money and awareness for different causes. My favorite thing about the CFABQ community is how much fun we have together and challenge each other. No matter how bad of a day I have had, my heart is always happy knowing I get to end the day at the gym with people I genuinely love to be around.

What are you most excited about in the second half of 2019? I am super stoked to be going to Iceland with my amazing boyfriend (Matt Booth) and in general, just getting sweaty and spending time with my closest friends at the gym!
