May 27th we will be participating in the Melissa Memorial WOD in honor of Becky Freeman’s mother.
Melissa, Becky’s mother, passed away May 19, 2016 from PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), an uncommon brain disorder that affects movement, control of walking (gait) and balance, speech, swallowing, vision, mood and behavior, and thinking. For 10 years she battled with this disease, ultimately losing her life to it. Currently, there is no cure.
May is also PSP Awareness Month. Becky and her sister, are making strides to create a bigger impact and awareness in May for PSP, fundraising for research to ultimately find a cure. They are not only doing this in memory of their mom, but for others here in the state of New Mexico & nationwide who have PSP, and hope for a cure one day so that others with the disease and their families will not have to suffer and ultimately lose their life and loved ones.
Businesses such as Grassburger, IL Vicino, and Silk Road have all joined the cause, donating a portion of their proceeds to Cure PSP. Please support these businesses during May 22nd-May 28th
We will be doing the Melissa WOD for the 9am and 11am Saturday classes on Saturday, May 27th. CrossFit gyms that are interested in conducting the workout at YOUR local box/gyms, please stay tuned for the workout description and more information about donating to this cause. Let’s find a cure. #curepsp
